Scientific and technological development has become a key factor that will lead to improvements in the economic field and promote social development. It is for this reason that the TICGE (Information and Communication Technologies in Equatorial Guinea) project has been founded. In his constant desire to boost the economic and social development of Equatorial Guinea, this project is thanks to the initiative of the President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, S. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, Head of State of Equatorial Guinea and founder of the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea. Through this project various initiatives, of great national and international impact, are being consolidated which will contribute to Equatorial Guineas progress.
It has been decided to implement the National Broadcasting Plan for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), located in the context defined by the National Economic and Social Development Plan. This National Plan aims to disseminate Information and Communication Technologies across the country through the creation of multimedia centers. Centers are devoted to training individuals in the use of new technologies, and in fields such as health, literacy or civic and social education. It also aims to positively raise public awareness of online training and reduce the digital divide that currently exists in Equatorial Guinea.
